1991 – Ruth, a neurotic businesswoman from New York, takes her father Edek, a charmingly stubborn Holocaust survivor on a journey to Poland to make sense of her family’s past.
American journalist Ruth had long planned a trip from the USA to her ancestral home in Poland only to find her effervescent father Edek has decided to join her. They embark on a trip to the tourist sites, but that’s not what she’s after. She wants to head to the family home in Lodz where they were a successful industrial family before the Nazi’s confiscated their wealth and property sending Edek and his wife to Auschwitz. Dad is not so keen on this itinerary, or about train travel.
This family journey slowly opens the eyes of the daughter whilst bringing back buried memories to the father.
Based on the best-selling autobiographical novel Too Many Men by New York-based writer Lily Brett.
